“Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.” (KJV)
The hatred, bigotry, and violence that occurred over this past weekend was despicable.
It’s a sad day in the United States when this kind of racism still continues publicly. Unfortunately, I’m not surprised…because at some levels, racism has always existed in this country.
For example, in the NFL, Colin Kaepernick took a stand against racism in America and is currently out of the NFL. Is it solely racism, or are there other factors concerning his protest? Who knows…each of us have our opinion and that’s our right. I’m not against him taking a stand, although I would have taken the same stand using a different method.
Speaking of methods, I thought that President Trump should have condemned the atrocities of white supremacists more forcefully as a moral leader. However, I’m not going to lose any sleep over it, because I didn’t expect anything more based on past words and actions.
At the end of the day, the truth is that words matter, and each of us must be responsible for what we say and do. It is my prayer that we learn from King Solomon when he said, “Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.” Regardless of our political beliefs, individually and collectively, each of us must be willing to look in the mirror and decide to remain or to move beyond Charlottesville.
Remember, all it takes for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing.
