Luke 12:6-7

“What is the price of five sparrows—two copper coins? Yet God does not forget a single one of them. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows” (NLT)

How much are you worth?

Are you worth thousands, millions, or billions of dollars? Are you worth love, respect, or admiration from others? Maybe…but are those things capable of measuring your real value?

I don’t think they are. They may have a certain amount of value, but they pale in comparison to the value that God places on each of us.

So how much value does God place on each of us? It is certainly way more than the price of 5 or even 10 sparrows. He values us so much that He takes the time to count each hair on our heads. If God is that concerned about us, who or what is there to fear? Absolutely nothing, for a God that attends each sparrow’s funeral will certainly provide for His children.

As we consider our self worth, I think a better consideration should be our “God-worth”. For at the end of the day, our real value is determined by God. So what value did God place on us? Is it a thousand, million, billion or a trillion dollars?

No, it’s much more, it’s the price of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.

Beloved, despite how others may look at, respond to or treat us, we’re extremely valuable to God. The cross not only symbolizes a plus sign mathematically, but it also symbolizes the value that God placed on you and me.

Dear Lord…help us to realize that our true worth isn’t seen through our eyes, but through yours. Amen!

Blessings,
